Zachary K. Mulford of New Castle, formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away tragically early Saturday morning, December 8, 2018. He was 15 years old.

Zach was born May 26, 2003, in Titusville, PA, a son of Kevin L. and Stacy L. (Hodak) Mulford. A high school sophomore, he was currently enrolled in the Agora Cyber Charter School. Zach previously attended New Castle High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team and the marching band, and prior to that attended Slippery Rock Jr. High School.

During summer break, Zach would stay busy by mowing lawns and completing landscaping work around his neighborhood.

He was very interested in robotics engineering, and one of his proudest achievements was constructing a robot with fellow classmates and being able to bring it home to show his family. Zach also loved to draw and spend time hanging out with friends.

He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Stacy Mulford, of New Castle; his maternal grandfather, Chuck (Sue) Hodak, of Butler; his paternal grandparents, Chuck (Teresa) Mulford and Carol Mulford, all of Titusville, PA; two sisters, Kayla (Aaron) Smith, of Butler, and Belle Mulford, of New Castle; four brothers, Austin (Cassie) Crispin, of Vermont,  Luke Mulford, of Butler, and Nicholas Mulford and Kevin Mulford, II; both of New Castle; and two nieces, Lily and Madison Smith.

Zach was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Kathryn Sorenson.

Memorial contributions may be directed towards the family to help defer funeral expenses.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (12-15-18) in Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2251 Prospect Rd., Prospect, PA 16052 , officiated by Ben Oesterling, lead pastor.
