Obituary

Winona (Bacon) King Kulnis, formerly of Wheatland, passed away peacefully at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016, in O'Brien Memorial Health Care Center, Masury. She was 82.

Mrs. Kulnis was born January 3, 1934, in Wheatland, a daughter of Glenn E. and Blanche Palmer Bacon.

A lifelong area resident, she was a 1951 graduate of Farrell High School.

A homemaker for many years, Winona was also self-employed as a local area artist and former business owner. She was a founding member of the Valley Arts Guild, Sharon, and was also active in the planning for Buhl Day where she loved participating in the art gallery exhibit at the Casino.

Winona was a volunteer at the Human Society of Mercer County and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 432, Boosters and the Fire Ladies, all Wheatland.

She enjoyed painting, crafts and tending to her beautifully kept garden.

Winona loved her family and being an active grandmother. She cherished the time she shared with her grandchildren and attending their many activities.

She was married to Joseph A. Kulnis, who preceded her in death in 1981, and previously married to Samuel "Rusty" King, who passed away in 2009.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mary Beth King, Sharpsville; and Jody (Sean) Kulnis Valentino, North Ridgeville, OH; three sons, John "Rusty" ( Roxanne) King, Hermitage; Samuel J. (Sheila) King, Louisville, KY; and Joseph "Timothy" (Jan) Kulnis, Lebanon, PA; a brother, Glenn "Sonny" E. Bacon, Jr., Hermitage; 10 grandchildren, Shannon Kowacich, Joshua Merrick, Robert Cunningham IV, Sean "GJ" Valentino, Ava Winona Valentino, John "Jason" King, Amber King, Amanda White, Stephanie King-Smith, Kristy King, Lauren McCombs, CJ Zambelli and Michelle Zambelli; and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Winona was preceded in death by a son, Glenn M. King.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Mercer Co.,  3005 E State St, Hermitage, PA 16148.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday (8-16-2016) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (8-17-16) in the funeral home.

Interment: West Side Cemetery, S. Pymatuning Twp.
