Winfield Roger Davis, Hermitage, passed away at
2:30 p.m.
Wednesday
(3-16-16) at the residence following an extended illness. He was 79.
He was born on October 22, 1936 in Sharpsville, Pa., the son of Alfred and Bessie Alfareda Davis.
He was a lifelong area resident and he graduated from Mercer High School.
A United States Army veteran, he served in Germany and was honorably discharged after two years of service.
He studied computer science and he gained employment with the former Sharon Steel Corporation's Farrell plant where he worked for 28 years. He also owned and operated Care Giver Providers for 17 years, a personal care service in Sharpsville.
He was a member of Grace Chapel Community Church, Hermitage.
Win, as he was known by his family and friends, was a hospice volunteer, a Master Gardener, and an accomplished guitar player.
He loved to sing and was a member of the popular men's choral Penn Ohio Singers that entertained crowds throughout Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he attended many school related activities and he loved watching his grandchildren participate in sports.
His wife, the former Sarah "Sally" Malsom, whom he married on June 1, 1963, survives at home.
Also surviving are his two daughters, Lori J. Davis Hoffer and her husband Steven, Bainbridge, Pa., and Kelly J. Davis Osborne and her husband Jeffrey, Hermitage, his son, Daniel W. Davis, Mercer, nine grandchildren, Steven Hoffer, John Hoffer, Tiffany Wilson, Colleen Christy, Rebecca and Shawna Montgomery, Lindsey and Miranda Ranelli, and Nicholas Osborne, 7 great grandchildren, two brothers, Harold Davis and his wife Grace, Jefferson Township, and Louis Davis and his wife Nancy, Transfer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Alice Bethune, two brothers, James and Paul Davis.
