William E. Stevenson, 79, of New Castle, passed away on Feb. 9 near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Born in New Castle in 1945, Bill attended New Castle High School and later joined the Air Force in 1965. While on duty in Japan, he learned the language and eventually made the country his home for the next few decades.

Bill was an avid reader, lover of music and delighted in telling tall tales. He traveled the world and eventually returned to his hometown to reconnect with friends and family. He leaves behind his children, grandchildren and a lifetime of stories.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
