Obituary

William A. Roach, 84, formerly a longtime resident of Hermitage, passed away peacefully with family at his bedside Monday afternoon, October 28, 2024, at the Lakes at Jefferson, Mercer.

Mr. Roach was born June 20, 1940, in Sharon, a son of the late William R. and Wilma (Lloyd) Roach. He was a 1958 graduate of Farrell High School and attended Edinboro University.

Bill honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961, and remained in the U.S. Army Reserves, Farrell, until his discharge in 1965.

He worked as an electrician at Wheatland Tube for 42 years, retiring in 2003. Bill served as the financial secretary for United Steelworkers Local 1016.

Bill was of the Catholic faith.

An avid golfer, he was also an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bill looked forward to spending time with his buddies at the Italian Home, Farrell, and taking annual fishing trips to Canada.

His wife of nearly 51 years, Marlene Ann (Totin) Roach, whom he married June 25, 1966, preceded him in death on May 11, 2017.

Bill is survived by two daughters, Kelly Hellmann (Tom), Hermitage, Jennifer Roach and her fiancé, Eddie Baker, Ocean City, MD; a son, David Roach (Kristine), Boston, MA; two granddaughters, Alana and Livia Hellmann; four sisters, Dr. Linda Spanos (Michael), Hermitage, Cathy Kudelko, Largo, FL, Patti Estock (Paul), Hermitage, and Debbie Bair (Wayne), Masury, OH; a brother, Bob Roach, Hermitage; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Bill was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Evans and Barbara Wallace; a brother-in-law, Dr. David Kudelko.

Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday (11-1-24) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McGonigleFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday (11-2-24) in the funeral home with Deacon Frank Hannah, officiating.

Interment: St. John's Orthodox Cemetery, Hermitage.

Military honors will be rendered at the cemetery by the Wheatland AL and West Middlesex VFW Honor Guard.
