William H. Porterfield, Jr., 58, of Sharon, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, in Edison Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Castle.
Mr. Porterfield was born February 26, 1966, in Sharon, a son of the late William H. Porterfield, Sr., and Rose (Shaffer) Porterfield, and attended Sharon schools.
For over 20 years, William owned and operated Bill's Construction, which specialized in residential construction and remodeling.
William enjoyed several outdoor activities, such as hunting and fishing, playing softball, and riding his motorcycle. He was an accomplished darts player who also enjoyed spending time with his son, Michael, while working on his race car. During football season, William looked forward to watching and rooting for his favorite team, the Cleveland Browns. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
On May 21, 1987, he married the former Brenda Latshaw, who passed away November 11, 2020.
He is survived by his four sons, Joe Gammon, Sharon, William Porterfield, III (Jaime), Hermitage, Michael Porterfield (Lesli), Sharon, and Hank Porterfield, Sharon; a daughter, Kara Porterfield, Farrell; a brother, James Porterfield (Tammy), Sharon; two sisters, Patricia Gammon and Linda Kelly, both of Sharon; and 11 grandchildren, Joseph D. Gammon, III, Austin M. Gammon, Destiny F. Gammon, Carter D. Gammon, Kennedi Porterfield, Leah McDonald, Mikenna Porterfield, Amelia Porterfield, Zachary Simpson, Carson Porterfield, and Brendan Porterfield.
In addition to his parents and wife, William was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Porterfield; and a nephew, Daniel Porterfield, Jr.
A celebration of William's life will be held at noon, Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Thomas Nursery, 246 Habarka Road, West Middlesex.
