December 5, 1962 – July 7, 2018
William "David" Van Ord, 55, of Pymatuning Twp., passed away at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018, in his home.
Dave was born December 5, 1962, in Sharon, a son of William and Gladys Van Ord. He was a 1980 graduate of Hickory High School and studied to be an electrician at the New Castle School of Trades. Dave was a journeyman electrician with IBEW Local 712, and employed by Penn Ohio Electric Co., Masury, Ohio.
Dave was an avid bowler and participated in several bowling leagues. He was inducted into the Mercer County Bowling Hall of Fame in 2006 and was also a member of its board of directors. He had many 300 games, 800 series and his lifetime average was over 200. Dave was very proud of winning the Super Bowl Sweeper tournament in 2002 at Sunset Lanes, Farrell. Throughout his career he also won several other local and state tournaments.
Dave loved being involved in his children's activities and coached the Reynolds Rebels softball team for five years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Tonya Brenner, whom he married on October 10, 2006; a daughter, Sage Van Ord; two sons, Jeff and Brennen Van Ord; a stepdaughter, Amanda Clark; two grandchildren, Maddellynn Van Ord and AvaLee Titus; his father and mother-in-law, Ed and Patti Brenner; his former wife, Marty Weilacker; two brothers, Paul (Elaine) Van Ord; and Trevor (Debby) Popovitch; and two nieces, Tina (Don) Kowacich and their children Donny and Jesse; and Kara (Chad) Lawler and their children Christopher, Natalie and Meghan Liscio.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday (07/12/2018) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday (07/13/2018) in the funeral home.
