Obituary

William G. McFarland Jr., Sharpsville formerly of Hermitage, passed away at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday (6-29-11) in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Farrell, following and extended illness. He was 76.

He was born on June 3, 1935 in Sharon, Pa., the son of William G. and Anna Hoban McFarland.

A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Sharon High School in 1953.

Bill, as he was known by his family and friends, worked as an automobile salesman for many local dealerships in both Pennsylvania and Ohio.

He was of the Roman Catholic Faith.

Bill enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family, and simply sharing a good conversation with his many friends.

He is survived by his children, Debbie E. Heiman and her husband Ronald T. Heiman, Harold Reid and his wife Linda P. , Pittsburgh, Susan L. Lengyel and her husband Timothy J., Mercer, Cheryl A. McFarland and Eric D. Emerich, Hermitage, and David W. McFarland, Hermitage; a brother, Thomas McFarland, Brookfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jill Fulmer, Steven Worona, and Rachel Reid; and his former wife JoAnne K. McFarland, Hermitage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Theodore McFarland.

Calling hours: 11:00 a.m. until the day of service Saturday (7-2-11) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Service: A funeral service will be held on Saturday (7-2-11) at 1:00 p.m.in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jeffrey J. Lucas, Erie Diocesan priest officiating.
