Obituary

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of family for Dr. William E. Mack Jr. of Brookfield. He passed away peacefully Thursday morning (2-3-11) in Hospice House, Poland, Ohio, after a brief illness. He was 62.

Dr. Mack was born March 26, 1948, in Sharon, the eldest son of William E. and Catherine Bell Mack.

A lifelong area resident, he graduated from St. Joseph's School, Sharon, and was a member of Hickory High School's graduating class of 1966, Hermitage. He attended St. Mark's Seminary, Erie, and John Carroll University, University Heights, Ohio. He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from Youngstown State University and matriculated to Case Western University, Cleveland, where he earned his degree in dentistry.

Dr. Mack practiced dentistry in Brookfield for 22 years.

A veteran, he served with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for two years.

Bill, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was a loving husband, father, proud grandfather, son, brother, uncle and nephew. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Nora Dahl, whom he married Sept. 18, 1968. He also leaves his three children, William E. Mack III, North Carolina; Robert Mack, Virginia; and Jennifer Mack Davis, Colorado; the joy of his life, his grandchildren, Leo and Carly Mack, both North Carolina; his mother, Catherine Bell Mack; seven siblings, Patricia Mack Langton, Danbury, Conn.; Carol Mack Sunderland, Harrisburg; Atty. Kevin David Mack, Columbus, Ohio; Mary Catherine Mack Ehrlich, Manassas, Va.; Margaret Mack Sniezek, Sharon; Maureen Mack, Taylor, Mich.; and Christine Mack Arne, Manassas; his three aunts, Sister Bernadette Bell RSM, Erie; Alice Bell, Sharon; and Shirley Mack Shannon, Hilton Head, S.C.; and 21 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William E. Mack Sr.; and his uncle, Harold E. Bell.

Calling hours: At Bill's request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A private time of mourning will be observed by his family.
