Obituary

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday for William Edward Lenarcic of Hermitage, who passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, with family at his side. He was 88. Mr. Lenarcic was born Oct. 17, 1926, in Sharon, the youngest child of Michael and Christina Gasper Lenarcic. Bill was raised in the Patagonia neighborhood of Hermitage and was a 1944 graduate of Hickory High School. He began his career with the late Basil Scott at the former Scotty's Men's Shop in downtown Sharon and retired from Family Life Insurance Co., where he was a mortgage broker and insurance agent for 25 years. Following his retirement, he was employed part time for Plaza Travel. Bill was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. He also belonged to SNPJ Lodge 31; and the Slovenian Working Men's Club and Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge 103, both Sharon. He enjoyed gardening; walking his dog, Rocky; and watching old movies. Surviving are: his wife, the former Stacy Diacoganes Bartko, whom he married Sept. 5, 1970, in Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage; a daughter, Susan Goclano and her husband David, Transfer; a son, John Bartko and his wife Kathy, Hermitage; and six grandchildren who affectionately called him "Topah," Chris Goclano and his wife Leah, Pittsburgh; Ben Goclano, serving in the U.S. Navy in Charleston, S.C.; Stacy Goclano, Providence, R.I.; Jonathan Bartko, Rochester, N.Y.; and Alayna and Amanda Bartko, both Pittsburgh. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Molly Vatavuk, Christine Milac and Rose Benard; and a brother, Albert Lenarcic. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Humane Society of Mercer County, 3005 E. State St., Hermitage, PA 16148. Calling hours: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday (6-8-15) in J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Service: Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday (6-9-15) in Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, with Monsignor Edward J. Zeitler, senior associate, as celebrant. Entombment: St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, Hermitage.
