Attorney William Charles Kuhn of Sharon passed away at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, in Clepper Manor. He was 95. Attorney Kuhn was born September 20, 1919, in Wesleyville, Erie County, PA, a son of Eugene J. and Viola G. Wells Kuhn. He was a graduate of Harbor Creek High School, Erie, where he was senior class president and was a dairy farmer in Erie County during WW II. At the age of 26 his family sold the farm and he enrolled in what is now Gannon University where he earned his bachelor's degree. He received his law degree from the Ohio State University College of Law and was duly admitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio; the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and the United States Federal Courts. Attorney Kuhn began practicing law in Mercer County in the 1950's with the late Attorney Chauncey Brockway. He then had a private practice in Sharon for more than 35 years before joining Lewis and Ristvey, Hermitage, in the early 1990's. He retired in 2002. His legal practice was principally in defense litigation in civil actions. Attorney Kuhn was a member and past president of the Mercer County Bar Association and a 50 year member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sharon. His wife, the former Eleanore L. McDowell, whom he married November 23, 1955, passed away March 21st of this year. Surviving are: a sister, Dorothy V. Heidecker, Erie County; eight nieces and nephews; and six grand nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Eugene P. Kuhn and Daniel J. Kuhn.
