After an extended illness, William Steven Karol passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 5, 2025.

He was the only son born to Mary and William Karol on July 12, 1942, in Sharon. A 1960 Sharon alumnus, Bill promptly entered the Marine Corps upon graduating.

He began his civilian career at GATX in Masury, Ohio.  For the largest part of his professional life, Bill was the owner and operator of Karol and Associates, a worldwide railroad consultation company.

It is impossible to capture in words the enthusiasm for living Bill brought to every day.  His loves included cooking, traveling and entertaining with loved ones.  He was a voracious reader and storyteller. A day with a good cigar, fine wine and a Chiefs' game playing, was a day well spent.

Bill served his community by volunteering at several Relay for Life events.  He also was a Co-Chair for the Buhl Day Honored Guest Committee.

He is survived by his wife, Carol DeBonis Schultz Karol. His son, Mark Karol (Kim); daughter, Kelly Dehnert (Jeff); and stepchildren, Brian Schultz (Samantha) and Kaline Schultz (Tom Adams). Grandchildren include Drew Dodson (Aimee), Tank Dehnert, Phoebe, Logan, Aurora, Adelynn and Everleigh Schultz.  Sierra, Darrian and Jocelynn.  Great grandchildren were Oliver Dodson, Tucker, Gianna, Charlotte, Braxton and Lailani. He had three siblings and several nieces and nephews.

A special thank you is given to the staff of Avalon Springs Place for the outstanding care they provided.

We sadly bid farewell to a man that was loved beyond measure.  We learned from him.  We were loved by him. We grew because of him. We will honor and celebrate Bill Karol's legacy for the rest of our days.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
