William L. "Bill" Kalp of Sharon passed away peacefully at 11:25 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2016 in his residence. He was 74.

Mr. Kalp was born July 8, 1942, in Rockwood, PA; a son of William I. and Olive Pletcher Kalp. Bill was raised in Rockwood and graduated from Rockwood High School in 1960. He married the former, Arlene Phillippi on June 15, 1963, in Rockwood. Together they then moved to the Shenango Valley where they have made their home for the past 53 years.

He retired in 2001 from Aqua Pennsylvania Inc., formerly Shenango Valley Water Co., after 37 years of service.

Bill was an active member of Sharpsville Church of the Nazarene, Sharpsville; and formerly Sharon Free Methodist, Sharon.

A cancer survivor of 22 years, he was a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society: Road to Recovery, driving cancer patients to treatments and appointments while making many friends along the way. Additionally, Bill was very active in the Mercer Co. Relay for Life and for several years had his own team, "Family and Friends". In 2001 he was proud to be honored with a plaque as the top fundraiser at the Mercer Co. Relay for Life.

An outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting, camping and woodworking. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are: his wife of 53 years, Arlene (Phillippi) Kalp; two daughters, Sherri Diegan and her husband, Brian, Hermitage; and Renee Lego and her husband, Aaron, New Wilmington; two sons, William A. Kalp and his wife, Adrienne, Hermitage; and Dennis Kalp and his wife, Tricia, West Middlesex; two sisters, Hazel Barclay, Somerset, PA; and Irene Decker, Garrett, PA; a brother, Wayne Kalp, Somerset, PA; 12 grandchildren, Jon (Jen), Kristin, and Nicole Diegan, Michelle (Ezra) Dulis, Gabi, Rachel and Emma Lego, Joshua, Jordyn, Jimmy, Jesse and Jenna Kalp; and a great granddaughter, Quinn Diegan.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Sharpsville Church of the Nazarene, 804 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville, PA 16150; or Grace Chapel Community Church, 4075 Lamor Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday (9-12-2016) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon; and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday (9-13-16) in Sharpsville Church of the Nazarene, 804 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday (9-13-16), in the church, with Pastor Len Powell, Sharpville Church of the Nazarene, and Pastor Aaron Lego, Grace Chapel Community Church, officiating.
