Obituary

William M. 'Bill' Instance, 170 Cedar Ave., Sharon, passed away at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday (3-7-12) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. He was 79.

Bill was born in Canada on February 27, 1933 the son of Jeanette McDonald. He was raised in Sharon and attended Sharon Schools.

A lifelong area resident, he worked as a police officer for the city of Sharon from September of 1967 until his retirement in 1999.

Bill was always busy helping others and he loved automobiles. He owned and operated Instance Towing Service in Sharon for many years. He also worked during the winter months plowing snow for both residential and commercial properties.

He served with the United States Army during the Korean War and belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1338, Sharon.

An active Free and Accepted Mason, he belonged to the Kedron Lodge 0389, the Consistory Legion of Honor, Valley of New Castle, and Shriners International, Zem Zem Shrine, Erie Pa.

Bill loved the taste of a good cigar and he enjoyed spending time at his vacation home along the Clarion River.

His wife Vera Albanese whom he married on February 16, 1967, passed away on October 18, 2011.

He is survived by his niece, Ann Marie Morocco and her husband James, Hermitage; his two nephews, Gary Ustik and his wife Melissa, Hermitage; and Paul Wilson, Howland, Ohio; a great-niece, Gina Grata and her husband Michael, Hermitage; a great-nephew, Shane Wilson, Girard, Ohio; two great-great-nephews, Michael Grata and Nicholas Vuich; and a great-great-niece, Giana Grata, two sister in laws , Mary Russo and her husband Daniel, Farrell; and Gloria Nitzsky and her husband Roger, Girard, Ohio.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his mother, his step father, William Instance, and a sister in law Jennie Sicilian.
