William Murray Heeter Jr. of New Bedford, passed away at 2:50 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015 at home. He was 63. William was born in Washington, D. C., the son of William M. and Mary (Garner) Heeter Sr. He worked as a private duty security guard for a number of years. While living in Virginia, he belonged to the Carmel Baptist Church. He enjoyed the simple things like a classic episode of Star Trek and routing for his beloved Dallas Cowboys. A decorated veteran of the United States Army he was honorably discharged on July 25, 1970, with the National Defense Service Metal and the Marksman M-14 and Expert M-16 ribbons. His wife, Sandra S. Heeter, whom he married August 23, 1985, survives at home. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his five daugthers; Geraldine M. and her husband George Molnar, of Farrell, Cheryl M. and her husband Norman Straley, of Virginia Beach, VA, Shirley E. and her husband Brian Rohone, of Elizabethton, TN, Megan L. and her husband Joshua Lowe, of Martinsburgh, WV, Heather M. Heeter, of Virginia Beach, VA, two sons; Elmer T. Walczak and his wife Kelly, of Detroit, MI, William M. Heeter III, of Woodford, VT, a sister; Dora Coleman, a brother; Joseph Heeter, twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father. Arrangements were entrusted to the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State Street, Sharon.
