William F. Haun of Masury passed away at 1:25 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, after an extended illness. He was 78.
Mr. Haun was born July 4, 1937, in Farrell, a son of John W. and Rebecca Costea Haun.
He was a 1957 graduate of Farrell High School and attended Youngstown State University.
Mr. Haun retired in 2000 from Greenwood Home Care, where he was employed for 13 years. He previously worked for 26 years at the former National Castings Division of Midland Ross Corp., Masury, as a shipper and later as a foreman.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hermitage.
Bill served with the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963 with the 52nd Medical Battalion at the Murphy Barracks, Ludwigsburg, Germany. He was also stationed at the 5th General Hospital, Stuttgart, during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Surviving are: a son, Erik Haun, Boardman, Ohio; a sister, Norma Black, New Wilmington; and a brother, Ronald B. Haun, Hermitage. Bill was preceded in death by: his parents; three sisters, Loretta Reed, Peggy Ann Travis and Rebecca Ramage; a brother, Robert J. Haun; and a brother-in-law, James Black.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 3325 Morefield Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.
