Obituary

Rev. William H. Hamilton, Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Twp., formerly of Clark, went to be with his Lord at 6:15 a.m. Sunday (9-30-12) with his family at his side in the home. He was 81. He was born in Hutchinson (Westmoreland Co.) Pa., on August 7, 1931 the only child of William N. and Kathryn Sowash Hamilton. He was raised in Hutchinson and graduated from High School with honors. William earned his Ministerial License from the IPHC (International Pentecostal Holiness Church) and served in the ministry for more than 45 years. He served in many capacities for the Pentecostal Holiness Church's Pennsylvania Conference. His first assignment was in Truxall, Pennsylvania where he served his first six years. He moved to the Shenango Valley and became the pastor of the Clark Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served for 39 years. In his retirement he was associated with the First Assembly of God, Hermitage. Rev. Hamilton did the Lord's work with a smile and a terrific sense of humor. Music was a significant part of his life and ministry and he enjoyed playing both the guitar and piano. His wife the former Verna Palmer whom he married on February 7, 1947, survives at Countryside Convalescent Home. He leaves a son, David L. Hamilton and his wife Debra E., Hermitage, and a grandson Dean Hamilton and his wife Tonya, and his great grandchildren, Lydia and Fisher Hamilton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin son and daughter, William H. Hamilton Jr., and Verna Mae Hamilton.
