William Albert "Bill" Gundaker, 87, of Jefferson Twp., passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 14, 2024, in The Lakes at Jefferson.

Mr. Gundaker was born on June 18, 1936, in Derry, PA, a son of the late Charles Checkosky and Alberta (Hoke) Checkosky. He was a 1955 graduate of Derry Area High School and honorably served in the US Air Force.

His wife, the former Katherine A. Mayger, whom he married on March 4, 1961, passed away on December 9, 2020.

Bill retired from Sharon Tube, working in several departments. He also worked part-time at the former Taylor Sand and Gravel, Sharpsville.

A hard worker, he loved spending time with his family and took full advantage of his retirement to be with them as much as possible, especially his grandchildren. Bill was an avid reader and was a true fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams. Many will remember him for his quick wit, sarcasm and great sense of humor.

He is survived by a daughter, Lynn Winner and her husband Doug, Fredonia; a son, Kenneth Gundaker and his wife Tammy, Transfer; eight grandchildren, Kirsta, Shauni, Ashley, Vanessa, Lee, Amanda, Joshua and Danielle; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Gory; a son, Byron Gundaker; a sister, Margaret Lewis; and two brothers, Buddy and toddler Kenny Gundaker.
