William E. Goodpastor, M.D., 70, of Sharon, passed away at the Cleveland Clinic on Thursday January 17, 2019 after an extended illness. Bill was born in Pittsburgh and raised in New Castle.
After completing his psychiatric residency at the University of Pittsburgh, in 1985 he opened his private practice as a Psychiatrist in Sharon. He also worked diligently to help Sharon Regional Health System develop their inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services. More recently, he was blessed with the opportunity to work as a Psychiatrist at the women's prison, SCI Cambridge Springs. For Bill, being a physician was a special gift and privilege and he had great respect for his patients and humility in his endeavors.
Bill was a man of faith, reflected in how he lived his life. His family has been strengthened by a good man. He stood strong in good times and in sad times. Above anything else, family was important to Bill. He also found great pleasure in boating, fishing, woodworking and gardening. He was a very proud father of his two daughters Rebecca and Shelley.
Bill is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shelley M. Goodpastor, Sharon; two daughters, Shelley L. Goodpastor, North Carolina, and Rebecca Forgione and her husband Joe, California; a sister Susan Agee and her husband Jon, his mother-in-law, Gladys Mudrak; a brother-in-law Larry Mudrak; two sister-in-laws, Pam Mudrak and Bev Lackey; two nephews, Nathan and Benjamin; and niece, Kathryn.
