William L. "Gargs" Gargano of Farrell passed away at 2:02 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, after an extended illness.
He was 63.
Bill was born May 23, 1953, in Farrell, a son of William R. and Joanne Randolph Gargano.
A lifelong Farrell resident, he was a 1971 graduate of Farrell High School where he was the quarterback for its Night Rider football team.
Bill retired as a high lift operator in 2003 from US Can, Hubbard, Ohio, where he was employed for more than thirty years.
He was a member of the VFW, Post 5286, and the Italian Home, both Farrell; and the VFW, Post 6166, Hermitage.
Family, sports and vacationing every year at Ocean City, MD, is what Bill enjoyed most.
He loved his wife and children and would do anything he could for them.
He also liked staying in touch with his friends on Facebook and was an avid lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Paula Joseph, whom he married August 13, 1977; a daughter, Joni Lynn Nicastro and her husband Drew, Sharon; a son, Nick J. Gargano and his wife Kim, Farrell; a sister, Marty Jo Gargano and her significant other, Mark Corgnati, Pittsburgh; a brother, David Gargano and his wife Sandi, Hermitage; his step-mother, Sophie Gargano, Clearwater, FL; and his mother-in-law, Helen Joseph, Farrell.
He will also be missed by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; close lifelong friends who were there for Bill to the end, Chris Wren, Gary Franko, Norman Blue and Tim O'Hara; and his beloved dog, Rocco.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law, Thomas Joseph.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Family House Shadyside, 5245 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
Bill's family would like to thank the staff in the intensive care unit of UPMC Horizon Hospital, Farrell, and Dr. James Marcin for their exceptional care and concern during his illness.
Calling hours will be from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at
4:30 p.m.

in the funeral home, following the calling hours.
Interment: St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Hermitage.
