William R. "Billy" Fry, 31, of New Castle passed on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at his residence. He was born on May 12, 1984, in New Castle to Jeffrey M. and Kathleen E. Snyder Fry, who survive him in New Castle. He was a 2002 graduate of New Castle High School. Billy was a standout baseball player for New Castle High and BC3 and was currently playing for softball teams. He was employed in the construction and real estate business. Billy served in the Navy from 2006 to 2008 aboard the USS Eisenhower during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and golfing. He was a diehard Green Bay Packers and Pirates fan. Besides his parents he is survived by two brothers, Aaron M. (Tammy) Fry of Grampian, Pa., and Andrew M. (Joelle) Fry of New Castle; two sisters, Bridget K. Fry and Colleen E. Fry, both of New Castle; his paternal grandmother, Rose C. Bayuk Callahan of New Castle; one nephew; two nieces; and his dog Bo. Billy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Geraldine Snyder; paternal grandfather, Ronald G. Fry; and stepgrandfather, Edward Callahan. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church with the Rev. James A. Downs as the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the funeral home.
