William Francis Estock of New Castle passed away peacefully at 10:05 p.m. Jan. 22, 2011, at his home of natural causes. He was 87.
He was born March 8, 1923, in Johnstown, a son of John and Anna Szotak Estock. Mr. Estock graduated from Johnstown High School.
A decorated veteran, he served with the Army's 295th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II. His battalion covered operations in four countries, including France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 1, 1945, with several medals and commendations.
A motorcycle enthusiast, he owned and operated Estock's Harley-Davidson and Sales in Rose Point for 34 years. He retired in 1981. He also had worked for Aetna Standard in Ellwood City for 19 years.
He was a member of St. Mary Church of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish. He was a member of the American Motor Association and enjoyed attending motorcycle races.
His wife, Laura Marie Gable, whom he married Sept. 11, 1948, survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Beverly Ann Elovitz and husband Lee J. of Monroeville, and Karen A. Estock-Nesbitt and husband Floyd D. of Hobe Sound, Fla.; three sons, William Francis Estock Jr. and wife Michele of Naples, Fla., Michael J. Estock and wife Suzanne of Addison, Pa., and Mark S. Estock of New Castle, five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, George, John, Joseph, Steve and Emil Estock, and four sisters, Ann Cernic, Mary Holsing, Helen Chernickovich and Susan Harris.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Church with the Rev. Victor J. Molka, pastor, officiating.
Full military honors will be rendered by the New Castle Area Veterans Honor Guard prior to entombment in Resurrection Mausoleum in St. Mary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contribution be made to Jameson Hospice, 1000 S. Mercer St., New Castle 16101; or the Lawrence County Blind Association, 319 N. Jefferson St, New Castle 16101.
