William Philip "Bill" Conner, 82, of Hermitage, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, in Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Conner was born on February 27, 1942, in Centralia, ILL., a son of Wilbur H. and Elsie Maxine (Goff) Conner. He was a 1961 graduate of Shenango High School, New Castle, and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.
Bill was an auto mechanic for more than 40 years. Upon his retirement, he worked briefly for Reyer's Shoe Store, in the former downtown Sharon location.
Bill was a member of Oakland Avenue United Methodist Church, Sharon. He was also a Free and Accepted Mason, Kedron Lodge #389, West Middlesex.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, even though he often ended his fishing trip wet. He was also a sports fan and gave the best hugs. Later, Bill liked watching game shows and playing bingo.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Stephenson, Shelbyville, MI; and two sisters, Elizabeth Humphries and her husband Fred, Grove City, and Kathy Meyers, Illinois.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Richard Conner; a sister, Dorothy Brandon; and a brother, Walter Conner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to a local animal shelter/rescue group, or veteran's organization of the donor's choice.

Funeral service will be at noon, Friday, in the funeral home, with Rev. Kelley Schanely, officiating.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
