William C. Biblis, Sr. of Sharon passed away peacefully at 7:44 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2016, in Avalon Springs Nursing Home, Mercer. He was 97.
Mr. Biblis was born November 13, 1919, in Farrell, a son of Boleslaw and Michilena (Waskiewicz) Biblis.
He attended the former St. Adalbert Parochial Grade School, Farrell, and was a 1937 graduate of Farrell High School.
Bill served in the U.S. Army as a flight engineer with the Army Air Transport Division in the Pacific Theater during WW II.
He retired as a wireman in 1984 from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he was employed for 46 years.
Bill was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell.
He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW, Post 5286, both Farrell, and participated in the VFW bowling and golf leagues.
He enjoyed gardening, playing euchre and spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Margaret "Maggie" H. Schuville, whom he married August 9, 1952; a daughter, Deborah Schwartz and her husband Dr. Carey Schwartz, Maryland; two sons, William C. Biblis, Jr. and his wife Laurie; and David A. Biblis and his wife Shelia, all Hermitage; seven grandchildren, Jessica Aller and her husband Brian; PO1 Aaron Schwartz and his wife Katheryn; Nicole, Amanda, Adeina and Kevin Biblis; and David Biblis, Jr. and his wife Jessica; and a great grandson, Vincent.
Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Stella Polcha; and a brother, Anthony Biblis.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2016, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016, in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell, with Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage.
