William Paul Baker, Masury, Ohio, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Saturday (10-1-11) at his residence. He was 91.
Mr. Baker was born November 2, 1919 in Sharon a son of the late John Ross and Sarah H. Webb Baker.
He was a lifelong area resident and a 1937 graduate of Sharon High School. He attended Youngstown State University, where he studied Ferro metallurgy, and later taught the subject for two years at Penn State University, Sharon Campus.
Mr. Baker was a metallurgist at Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant and retired in 1984 after more than 40 years of service.
During retirement, he served as a consultant to Sharon Steel's Metallurgy department. He attended Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, for many years. Bill enjoyed golfing and woodworking. His craftsman skills enabled him to build two homes he and his wife enjoyed for many years.
Surviving are: his wife at home, the former Sarah 'Sally' Burns, whom he married August 3, 1946 in Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon; a daughter, Mary Jane Baker, S. Pymatuning Township; a son, William 'Bud' J. Baker and his wife Emma, Lilburn, Georgia; ten grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Martha Baker, a resident of St. Paul Homes, Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia; and three brothers, Glen, Ralph and Robert Baker.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today (10-4-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday (10-5-11) in the funeral home with the Rev. John S. Lynch, retired priest, officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the Hickory VFW Honor Guard prior to the service in the funeral home.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage
