Obituary

William 'Bill' A. DeGolier, 1220 Bend Rd., (Lackawannock Twp.) Mercer, PA; formerly of Bradford, PA, died of cancer at 11:50 a.m. Thursday (3-3-11) in his home with his loving family at his side. He was 70.

Mr. DeGolier was born June 18, 1940 in Bradford a son of the late Robert and Marjorie Hallock DeGolier.

He was a 1959 graduate of Bradford Area High School and retired on July 9, 2004 as a maintenance operator from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation where he was employed for 13 years.

An outdoorsman, Bill was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

He served with the US Air Force from 1960 to 1964.

Surviving are: his wife at home, the former Monica M. Gattuso, whom he married August 31, 1968; a sister, Darlene McKinney and her husband Harry; three brothers, Robert DeGolier and his wife Gae; Lynn DeGolier and his wife Sandra; and Quinton DeGolier and his wife Julie, all of Bradford; three brothers-in-law, Anthony 'Jim' Gattuso and his wife Irina, Strongsville, Ohio; William Gattuso, Sarasota, FL; and Joseph Smegal and his wife Gaye, Hermitage; two sisters-in-law, Gloria Deal and her companion Rick Taylor, W. Middlesex; and Agnes DeGolier, Bradford; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Walter DeGolier; and a brother-in-law, Martin Gattuso.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Calling hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday (3-10-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon; and from 4-7 p.m. Friday (3-11-11) in Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Home, 33 South Ave., Bradford, PA;

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (3-12-11) in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Home, Bradford, with military honor's to be rendered immediately following the service.
