Wilbur H. 'Bill' Cooper of 332 E. Maitland Ln. New Castle. passed away Friday, October 22, 2010 at 3:20 p.m. in his residence. He was 73.
Mr. Cooper was born in New Castle, PA on July 29, 1937, a son of William H. and Luella Mae Fury Cooper.
He attended New Castle High School. Following high school, Wilbur served in the United States Marine Corp. Part of the four years he spent in the Marine Corp. he was stationed in Korea. Wilbur was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Medal.
Wilbur was formerly employed at McLean Trucking Company and was a member of the Teamsters.
His wife, Kathleen Ann George Cooper, whom he married, December 17, 1995; passed away March 19, 2010.
Survivors include: a son, William and his wife Erica Cooper of Cocoa Beach, FL; a step son, Paul Isaac Berkley of New Castle, PA; 2 sisters, Violet 'Dot' Rosati of Kansas City, MO, and Luella 'Sis' Libertosky of Garfield Heights, OH; 2 grandchildren, Brendynn Scott Cooper and Krista Marie Berkley; Bill is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Thelma Martin, Betty Oliphant, and Joan McCall.
In keeping with Wilbur's wishes, there will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be celebrated Saturday, October 30, 2010 in Highland Presbyterian Church, New Castle, PA at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Willis Kearns officiating.
