Wesley L. 'Lee' Wilkinson of 3410 W. Pittsburgh Rd. New Castle, formerly of Mahoningtown, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 10:37 p.m. in Avalon Nursing Center. He was 84.

Mr. Wilkinson was born in New Castle, PA on November 23, 1926, a son of Frank and Myrtle Mae Moffatt Wilkinson.

He was a 1944 graduate of New Castle High School. Lee retired from Columbia Gas Company in 1987, after 37 years as a corrosion technician. Through out his employment at Columbia Gas Company, Lee held numerous positions. As a young man, Lee was employed at the B & O Railroad as a pipe fitter.

Mr. Wilkinson was of the Protestant faith. Lee enjoyed golfing and had an amazing talent with wood working. Mr. Wilkinson was a member of Mahoning New Castle Lodge 243 of the Free and Accepted Masons. He had a love for traveling and enjoyed many trips with friends and family after retirement.

His wife, Margaret E. 'Peg' Wilkinson, whom he married in 1949, passed away on April 12, 2011. They celebrated 62 years of marriage.

He is survived by, 2 daughters, Janet and her husband Gary Altman of New Castle and Nancy and her husband Harold Rausch of Volant, PA; 2 special friends Harold and Lillian Mott.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 111 W. Falls St. New Castle, PA 16101.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. David J. Bell, pastor of First United Brethren Church.

Internment will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
