Wendy Lynn (Egelsky) Darlington of Hubbard, Ohio, formerly of Yankee Lake Village, passed away at 1:18 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016, in Hospice House, Poland, Ohio, with her loving family by her side. She was 46.
Wendy was born July 15, 1970, in Sharon, the only child of John F. Egelsky, II and Arlene Manilla Egelsky.
She attended the former St. Joseph Parochial Grade School, Sharon, and was a 1988 alumna of what was then Kennedy Christian High School, Hermitage.
Wendy was a former member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon.
She was employed for the past 15 years at NLMK, Farrell, as a routing coordinator and was a member of the American Metallurgical Society. She was also a member and former officer of the Parents Drama Club at Hubbard High School.
Wendy's family was the most important part of her life. She was a loving mother to her two sons and a loving grandmother to her grandson, who brought so much joy to her life.
Wendy enjoyed vegetable gardening and loved to can hot peppers, relish, salsa and spaghetti sauce from the vegetables she grew in her garden. She also enjoyed planting and tending to her flowers, reading, watching old time movies, restoring old furniture, woodworking, decorating for the holiday's and being a vendor at craft shows.
She is survived by her mother, Arlene Egelsky; two sons, Zachary T. Darlington and his fiancé Elizabeth Shamblin; and Jakob D. Darlington; and a grandson, Jaxon D. Darlington, all of Hubbard.
She will be sadly missed by her Godparents, Uncle Jack and Aunt Paula Manilla of Florida; Aunt Sally Manilla of Hubbard; special cousins, Jackie of Colorado; Bob of Columbus, Ohio; Lisa of Canfield, Ohio; John of Michigan; Paul of New York City; and Bradley of Florida; and all of their wives and children; her best friend whom she grew up with and was like a sister, Audra Schell Ganiear, North Versailles, PA; another best friend, Dianna Develli, Hermitage; her former husband, Robert Darlington; her mother-in-law, Linda Burkhart; a sister-in-law, Christina Hittle and her daughter, Madeline Hittle; and a brother-in-law, Atty. Tom Burkhart, all of Mercer; and her loving dogs, Jimmy, Lily and Xena.
Wendy was preceded in death by her father, John F. Egelsky, II; her maternal grandparents, Vito and Helen Manilla; her paternal grandparents John Egelsky, Sr. and Roberta June Himes; an uncle, Robert Manilla; and her father-in-law, Thomas Burkhart.
Wendy's family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the intensive care unit in St. Elizabeth Hospital and Medical Center, Youngstown, for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her family.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, in St. Joseph Church, Sharon.
Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the church with Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor, as celebrant.
