Walter "Gene" Lutz, 94, of Lackawannock Twp., passed away Friday evening, December 7, 2018, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lutz was born September 16, 1924, in Grove City, PA, a son of the late Willis E. and Edith Grace (McBride) Lutz. He was a 1942 graduate of Slippery Rock High School.

Walter was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church, Lackawannock Twp. He was a lifelong farmer and his life revolved around his farm. Throughout his life he raised dairy cattle, poultry and most recently beef cattle. Walter enjoyed listening to Lawrence Welk and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates games on the radio.

He is survived by a niece and caretaker, Pamela Gricus, with whom he recently lived with; and numerous other nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by three sisters, Grace Kahl, Janel Allen and Vera Fack; and a brother, Wade Lutz.

Calling hour will be 4 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday (12/11/2018) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon .

Funeral service will be 5 p.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home, with Rev. Marsha Parrish, from Mount Hermon Presbyterian Church, New Castle, PA, officiating.

Interment: Slippery Rock Cemetery (PA).
