Walter C. "Sonny" Klamer, Jr., 1729 N. Water Ave., Hermitage, went to be with the Lord at 10:49 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 69. Mr. Klamer was born October 30, 1942 in Sharon a son of Walter C. Klamer, Sr. and Helen R. Mihalcin Klamer. He was a 1959 alumnus of Hickory High School, Hermitage, PA, and enlisted with the US Marine Corp following his graduation. Sonny served four years active duty on Okinawa Island and two years in the reserve after his discharge. He retired in 1989 as an assembler from the Ford Motor Co., Lorain, Ohio, where he was employed for twenty-one years. He previously worked at Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant and the former Shenango, Inc., Sharpsville. He was a member and past officer of the German Club and a member of the VFW, both Lorain, Ohio. Sonny moved back to the area in 1999 and was a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard, music and camping and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Surviving are: his wife of 47 years, the former Susanne Lee Gardlock, at home; a daughter, JoEllen R. Heider and her husband Thomas; two sons, Michael S. Klamer; and Walter C. Klamer, III and his wife Nicole, all Lorain, Ohio; nine grandchildren, including Savannah Klamer, at home. He also leaves a brother, Jerome "Jerry" Klamer and his wife Tammy, Sharon; and a sister, Diane Langley in Arizona. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Christine Klamer; and a brother, Dennis Klamer. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
