Virginia "Cookie" Terchila, 69, of Sharon, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in Cleveland Clinic-Main Campus.
Cookie was born August 29, 1949, in Sharon, a daughter of the late George and Virginia (Baudile) Terchila. She was a 1967 graduate of Sharon High School.
She was a longtime employee of JCPenney Department Store in the Shenango Valley Mall. She was a skilled designer and was in charge of decorating and setting up displays for the store.
Cookie was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Farrell.
An avid golfer, she was in leagues at both Tam O'Shanter and Deer Creek Golf Course, and golfed with her husband every Sunday at Shenango Lake Golf Club.
Cookie loved to make crafts and sell her items at local craft shows. She also enjoyed fishing and boating.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Yevchak, whom she married February 15, 2002; two step-daughters, Melanie Valenly and her husband Ryan, of Greenville, and Lisa Whitehair and her husband Ken, of Hermitage; a step-son, Chris Yevchak
and his wife Julie, of Maryland; four step-grandchildren, Payton and Kyleigh Valenly, Logan Whitehair and Ashlyn Yevchak; two sisters, Georgiann Golubic, of Sharpsville, and Colleen Mazzocca and her husband Richard, of Sharon; a brother, Max Terchila, Sr.
and his wife Janet, of Rio Rancho, NM; and six nieces and nephews, Dawn Yuran, Christine Golubic, Max (Stephanie) Terchila, Jr., Luke Terchila, Gino (Kayla) Ciccone and Tia (Angela) Terchila.
In addition to her parents, Cookie was preceded in death by a niece, Elena Golubic.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Humane Society of Mercer County, 29 Vine Ave., Sharon, Pa 16146.
