Obituary

Virginia A. 'Jenny' Mitru, formerly of 1026 Christy Rd., Hermitage, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Saturday (6-5-10) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 91.

Mrs. Mitru was born December 22, 1918 in Farrell a daughter of the late Peter Costar, Sr. and Livia Staunch Costar.

She was a lifelong area resident and a 1936 alumna of Farrell High School.

Mrs. Mitru retired from First National Bank, Farrell, where she was a bank teller for 22 years.

She was a lifelong active member of Holy Cross Orthodox Church, Hermitage, where she was a member of its Ladies Aid Society. Virginia enjoyed traveling, particularly to California to visit her family, and bowled in the Crazy Twenties bowling league at Thornton Hall Lanes in Sharon.

Her husband, George Mitru, whom she married October 30, 1938, passed away December 10, 1974.

Surviving are: a daughter, Virginia A. Puhlmann, Fountain Valley, California.; a son, George P. Mitru and his wife Diane, Calabasas, California; a granddaughter, Kimberly Diane Mitru Ludeke and her husband Brian, Woodland Hills, California; a sister, Aurelia Kuehn, North Tonawanda, NY; a brother, Peter A. Costar, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by a brother, Victor G. Costar; a son-in-law, Walter S. Puhlmann; two sisters-in-law, Nancy J. Costar and Alma Costar; and a brother-in-law, Paul Kuehn.

Mrs. Mitru's family would like to thank the staff at John XXIII Home for their exceptional care and concern during their mother's residency.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Holy Cross Orthodox Church, 950 Maple Dr., Hermitage, PA 16148.

Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday (6-8-10) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

A Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday (6-8-10) in the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday (6-9-10) in Holy Cross Orthodox Church, Hermitage, with the Rev. Calinic Berger, pastor, officiating.

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
