Obituary

Virginia M. Lancaster passed away peacefully at 9:52 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015, in St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 86. Mrs. Lancaster was born November 23, 1928, in Connellsville, PA, a daughter of James Noel and Julia (Schlinger) Dragoo. She was a 1946 graduate of the former Immaculate Conception High School in Connellsville. Virginia was a former longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church, Connellsville, and its Christian Mothers and Mercy Meal Providers. Moving to the area in 1992, she was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex, and its choir. Virginia was an exceptional homemaker who enjoyed baking and spending time with her family, particularly playing cards with her grandchildren. She also liked traveling by motor coach years ago. Her husband, Louis L. Lancaster, whom she married May 12, 1949, passed away December 28, 1989. Surviving are: a son, Thomas C. Lancaster and his wife Mary Anne, Hermitage; three grandsons, Thomas M. Lancaster and his wife Heather, Massachusetts; Michael K. Lancaster and his wife Rachel, Pennsylvania; and Mark S. Lancaster and his wife Bridget, Virginia; and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Church of the Good Shepherd choir fund, 3613 Sharon Rd., West Middlesex, PA 16159. The family wishes to extend deepest thanks to the entire staff at St. John XXIII Home for their excellent care and to Monsignor Robert Malene for his prayers and visits. Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2015, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2015, in Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex, with Monsignor Robert Malene, pastor, as celebrant. Interment: St. Joseph Cemetery, Connellsville, PA.
