Obituary

Virginia Judith Joseph, 96, formerly of Hermitage and Farrell, passed away Monday morning, July 29, 2024, in the Lakes of Jefferson.

Mrs. Joseph was born on July 3, 1928, in Farrell, a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Carmela (Cantalice) Monteson. She was a 1946 graduate of Farrell High School.

Her true calling was to be a wife and mother. She was devoted to her family and extended family (parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews). A homemaker, she tirelessly kept a spotless, clean and organized house and maintained the landscaping. Throughout the years, she was employed as a beautician at Raymond's Beauty Shop, Sharon; Gibbs Flower Shop, Farrell; the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric, Corp.; and seasonally worked at Philadelphia Candies, Sharon.

Virginia was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.

She was an excellent cook and baker who thoroughly enjoyed treating her family to great meals and desserts.

A proud Penn State mother, she made numerous three-hour drives to Penn State University Park from 1969 to 1977, shuttling her three sons back to Farrell for the occasional weekend back home, making certain to send them back to college with a good stash of her homemade cookies and other desserts.

Virginia also looked forward to family outings to Lake Erie, Conneaut Lake Park and Westinghouse Picnic Grounds.

Her husband, George Conrad Joseph, whom she married on August 16, 1947, passed away on May 21, 2013.

She is survived by three sons, Conrad Joseph and his wife Evaline, Tulsa, OK, Robert Joseph and his wife Deedra, Tomball, TX, and Bryan Joseph, Hermitage; three grandchildren, Erica Brown and her husband Matt, Natalie Gentry and her husband Bo, and Diana Milam and her husband Ben; and eight greatgrandchildren, Tucker, Reece and Isla Brown, Skyler, Shaylee and Bonnie Gentry; and Jesse and Charlotte Milam. All of whom never heard her utter a foul or curse word.

In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by four sisters, Lucille Gigliotti, Marie Anric, Margaret Cerroni and Yolanda Monteson; and three brothers, Philip, Anthony "Hutch" and Robert Monteson.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Gentiva Hospice, 26 Nesbitt Rd., #200, New Castle, PA 16105.
