Private services will be held for Virginia R. Barreca of Lackawannock Township, who passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at 3:15 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, in her residence. She was 83. Mrs. Barreca was born May 15, 1931, in Lackawannock Township, a daughter of William and Myrtle Davis Powell. A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Hickory High School, Hermitage. Virginia was a homemaker and a former member of the Junior Women's Club. She enjoyed reading, doing crafts and vacationing at the beach with her family. Her husband, Joseph W. Barreca Sr., whom she married April 11, 1953, passed away April 24, 2011. Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; she will be sadly missed. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Barbara Ann Petruzzella, Hobucken, N.C.; and Susan Lynn Barreca, Pittsburgh; two sons, Joseph W. Barreca Jr., Sharon; and Thomas C. Barreca, Kernersville, N.C.; a brother, Russell Powell, Masury; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jimmy and Phill Barreca. Services: In keeping with Virginia's wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of family. Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage. Arrangements by J.
