IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Violet R.
Matta
May 21, 1934 – December 20, 2024
Violet R. Matta (née Rudolph), 90, of Sharpsville, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, December 20, 2024, surrounded by her three loving sons at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Matta was born on May 21, 1934, in Farrell, PA, the daughter of the late Max and Barbara (Sambol) Rudolph. She graduated early from Farrell High School at the age of 16. For many years, Violet worked in administrative roles for local law offices, the Mercer County Courthouse, and the Shenango Valley Osteopathic Hospital.
A lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Sharon, Violet was an active volunteer, participating in church fundraisers and festivals. She found great solace in her Catholic faith, which was deeply reflected in the way she lived her life. Violet was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who cherished reading, watching Hallmark movies and game shows (especially Jeopardy!), and cooking and baking for her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raymond M. Matta, whom she married on February 20, 1954, at St. Anthony Church. He passed away on May 8, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Thomas "Tommy" Matta, and her brother, Robert Rudolph.
Violet is survived by her three sons: Mark Matta of Jacksonville, FL; Robert Matta and his wife, Susan, of Allentown, PA; and James Matta and his wife, Maria, of Strongsville, OH. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Valerie Matta; eight grandchildren: Zachary, Jillian, Katherine, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Jessica, Jeffrey, and Max; one great-grandchild, Jonathan James; and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
The Matta family extends their sincere thanks to Don Matta for his supportive friendship, to Robin Gollner for her dedicated care, and to the many neighbors who helped Vi remain in her home these past few years.
For those who wish to do so, donations in Violet's memory may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, PA 16146; or a charity of the donor's choice.

Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in the church, with Rev. Glenn Whitman, as celebrant.
