Violet Kusich

Violet B. Kusich, 92, of Hermitage, passed away with family by her side on Friday morning December 19th, 2025, following a brief illness.

Violet was born on April 14, 1933, in Farrell, the 5th of nine children to John and Rose (Yankovich) Balach, and was a 1951 alumna of Farrell High School.

She was a member of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Hermitage.

Violet married George Kusich, Jr., the love of her life, on August 25, 1957. Together, they raised their family in Greenville and later moved to Hermitage in 2014.

A homemaker, Violet’s passion was her family, especially while vacationing or getting together around the holidays. She was an avid reader who loved to bake and watch musicals or old TV shows. Known for her kindness and thoughtfulness, Violet will be sadly missed by all.

Surviving are two sons, John (Lisa) Kusich, Howards Grove, WI, and Bryan (Susan) Kusich, Erie, PA; two daughters, Christine (David) Austin, Jamestown, PA, and Georgann (Steven) Mittal, Hermitage, PA; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nana Bocko, N. Myrtle Beach, SC, and Yvonne (David) Sylvester, Hoschton, GA; and a brother, William (Linda) Balach, Estero, FL; a brother-in-law, Nick Kusich, Greenville, PA; a sister-in-law, Martha “Tootsie” Mariacher, Coldon, NY; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband George on May 14, 2016; two brothers, Robert and George “Chips” Balach; and three sisters, Marilyn and Mildred Balach, and Ellen (George) Bozanich.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 65 S. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday (12-22-25) in St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 65 S. Keel Ridge Rd., Hermitage. 

Funeral service will be held immediately following, in the church, with Father Vedran Grabic, officiating.

Interment: St. John Orthodox Cemetery, Hermitage.
