Vinko Petrovich of Sharon passed away at
5:20 p.m.
Thursday, December 29, 2016, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 83.
Mr. Petrovich was born November 4, 1933, in Zagreb, Croatia. He was educated in Europe and moved to the United States to attend Christ the King Seminary at St. Bonaventure University, Olean, N.Y. He was ordained a Franciscan Priest on August 11, 1959 and took the name Fr. Eugene.
He began his priesthood at St. Anthony's Church in Sharon and later served as the pastor of St. Christina Catholic Church in Chicago, IL. He left the priesthood after more than twenty years and married the love of his life, the former Katharina "Kathie" Fischer, on July 22, 1980. She passed away March 7
th
of this year. Vinko was an active member and volunteer at St. Anthony's Church, Sharon, where he sang in its choir. He was employed as a warehouse manager for Erie Industrial Supply in Brookfield and later Erie, from which he retired.
Vinko was very intelligent and fluent in more than five languages. His greatest loves were his church and family. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Kay Fuchs and Tammy Fuchs, both Sharon; two sons, John Fuchs and his wife Mary Jo, Butler, PA; and Tony Fuchs, Sharon; seven grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Matilda Pusic, Argentina; and a dear friend, Tommy Bralich of Farrell.
Besides his wife, Vinko was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and three brothers.

, in St. Anthony's Church, Sharon, with Rev. Joseph Campbell, pastor, and Fr. Matthew Ruyechan, former pastor, as concelebrants.
