Vernon "Ed" Fry Jr., 345 Shenango Blvd., Farrell, passed away at his residence on Thursday (12-18-08) at 3:20 p.m. following an extended illness. He was 64.
Ed was born in New Castle on January 19, 1944 the son of Vernon E. Fry Sr. and Edna Sherlock Fry.
He was an alumnus of New Castle High School.
He was employed at one time for the former GATX plant, Masury, and more recently he worked for Chevron, Inc., Mercer.
An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and he especially enjoyed riding his Harley.
He was an artist and he enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.
He is survived by his wife the former Rosemary Rossi whom he married on August 21, 1976 in Our Lady of Fatima church with Msgr. Geno Monti as the celebrant. He also leaves his son Vernon "Ed" Fry III, at home, two half brothers Thomas Barber, Edinburg, and James Barber, New Castle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Katherine Fry and a brother Wayne.
Calling hours: 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday (12-21-08) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State Street Sharon.
Services: Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday (12-22-08) in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Church officiating.
Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage.
