Timothy W. 'Casey' Sypolt, 1069 Pearl St., Sharon, passed away unexpectedly at 6:53 p.m. Wednesday (7-13-11) in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Farrell, after complications from knee surgery two days prior. He was 53.
Mr. Sypolt was born April 16, 1958 in Pittsburgh a son of the late Edwin and Dorothy Sypolt.
He was raised in Pittsburgh and attended St. Athanasius Parochial Grade School in the West View borough. Casey was a 1976 graduate of North Hills High School in Pittsburgh and received his bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. He went on to earn two masters degree, one in Rehabilitation Counseling from West Virginia University, Morgantown; and the other in Occupational Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh. Casey was a Certified Hand Therapist and has worked with Dr. Robert W. Piston and Specialty Orthopedics in Hermitage for the past 21 years. He is a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hermitage. Casey loved the outdoors, wildlife and bow hunting with his son Jason. He was a member of the YMCA, Hermitage, and its men's early morning basketball league. He was also a member of the Buhl Community Recreation Center, Sharon, where he was a very good racquetball player.
Casey was a loving husband and father and was extremely proud of his children and their accomplishments. He will be dearly missed by all of them.
Surviving are: his wife of 31 years, the former Marlene L. Keller, whom he married June 7, 1980 in St. Luke Church in Pittsburgh; four children, Daniel R. Sypolt, a student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law; Erin C. Sypolt and Ryan P. Sypolt, both students at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic School of Medicine's School of Pharmacy, Erie, PA; and Jason M. Sypolt, a senior at Sharon High School; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Cindi Geiger; Wayne and Sandy Keller; Don and Cindy Keller; and Patty and George Basara, all Pittsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Casey Sypolt Memorial Fund, which was established for his children's education, in care of: Shenango Valley Foundation, 33 Chestnut St., Sharon, PA 16146 or any First National Bank location.
Calling hours will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday (7-17-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
