Obituary

Thomas Olshavsky, Hermitage, PA, formerly of Brookfield, OH passed away at 1:00 p.m., Sunday (9/23/12) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a courageous seven month battle with cancer. He was 59. Mr. Olshavsky was born April 12, 1953 in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son of Peter and Margaret L. Milanese Olshavsky, Jr. He was a 1971 graduate of Hickory High School and attended St. Joseph Parochial Grade School, Sharon. For several years he was the owner of the former 422 Truck Parts, Girard, OH and previously was employed by Cerni Motors, Girard, OH as the manager of the parts department where he worked for over 15 years. He attended St. Joseph's Church, Sharon. Tom was passionate about cooking and loved to cook for his family. He looked forward to family gatherings and holidays and sharing these special times with his many nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed target shooting. Tom devoted his entire life as the primary caregiver to his wife, the former Carol A. Madden, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 19. He is survived by Carol, whom he married September 20, 1980 in St. Joseph's Church, Sharon. Also surviving are his parents, Peter and Margaret L. Olshavsky, Jr., Hermitage; two sisters, Peggy Cataldi and her husband Donald, Sharpsville; and Debi Englebaugh and her husband Robert, Hermitage; two brothers, Peter Olshavsky and his wife Lynn, Hermitage; and Jerry Olshavsky and his wife Linda, Fayetteville, N.C.; nieces and nephews, Chuck and Christy Koch: Peter Olshavsky and his wife Joyce; Nick Olshavsky and his wife Leanne; Jill, Julie, and Jordan Cataldi; Taylor and Morgan Englebaugh; Jessica and Jerry Olshavsky; Katie and Nick Ference; and John and Billy DeForest; great nieces and nephews Alex, Matthew, Brian, Briana, Kristopher, Emma, Lucas, Mason and Kayleigh; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents and a sister, Patricia Olshavsky Murrell.
