Obituary

Thomas A. Morris, 70, of West Middlesex died unexpectedly Monday afternoon, June 24, 2024, in UPMC Passavant Hospital, following a heart procedure.

Mr. Morris was born December 14, 1953, in Sharon, a son of the late William T. and Ruth Marie (McFarland) Morris.

For 20 years, Tom worked for Industrial Steel, Youngstown, OH, and later for Sawhill Tubular, Sharon, and Exal Corporation, also in Youngstown. During retirement, he provided transportation to many in the Amish Community.

Tom was a member of Bethel Life Worship Center, Hermitage, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher.

He had a passion for cars, especially fast ones. Tom enjoyed drag racing his Plymouth Duster in his younger years and never quite outgrew his love for racing or affinity towards muscle cars. He had a gift for fixing or building just about anything and he often shared that gift with family, friends, or neighbors in need of help.

Tom was a dedicated family man who cherished the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren, especially supporting them at their games and events.

His loving wife of 52 years, Rose Mary (Mellott) Morris, whom he married June 13, 1972, survives at their home in West Middlesex.

Tom is also survived by three children, Terra Shaffer (Russell), William Morris (Gretchen), Michael Morris (Jasmine); a sister, Sandi Morris; and a brother, Larry Morris (Sharon), all of West Middlesex; 12 grandchildren, Andrew, Dylan, and Zachary Long; Britany, Caitlynn and Cierra Shaffer; Jaren and Chase Morris, Madison Blough, and Noah, Alexia, and Jade Schmitt and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by an infant brother, Thomas Harland Morris.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (6-28-24) in West Middlesex Presbyterian Church, 3082 E. Main Street, West Middlesex, with Pastor Jim Fleck, officiating.
