Thomas E. "Gene" Morrin, formerly of Sharpsville, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, December 18, 2018, in St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage. He was 93.
Mr. Morrin was born October 29, 1925, in Sharon, a son of the late Thomas J. and Bridget (Lyden) Morrin. He was a lifelong area resident and a 1943 graduate of Sharpsville High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and honorably served in the Pacific Theatre of Operation during WWII.
Gene retired in 1981 from the former Shenango, Inc., Sharpsville, where he worked in the payroll department for more than 30 years. He was previously employed by the former Sharon Transformer Div. of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he met his wife, Dorothy.
He married the former Dorothy J. Stainbrook on June 14, 1952, and she passed away May 11, 2014.
Gene was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.
He loved researching and analyzing the financial markets, as well as spending time outdoors working with his hands.
He is survived by a daughter, Kris A. Morrin, Winchester, TN; a son, Thomas R. Morrin and his wife Debra, S. Pymatuning Twp.; two grandchildren, Jared M. Morrin, Arlington, VA, and Kara N. Morrin, S. Pymatuning Twp.; a special niece, Judy Morrin; and several more nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Gene was preceded in death by two sisters, Theresa Stewart and Marcella Magner; and a brother, Richard Morrin.
Memorial donations may be directed towards the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Rd, Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hours will be 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday (12-22-18) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, with the Very Rev. Richard Allen, E.V., pastor, as celebrant.
Entombment: St. Rose Mausoleum, Hermitage.
