Obituary

Thomas M. Levitt, 78 of Sharon, formerly of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020, in Avalon Springs Place, Mercer.

Mr. Levitt was born February 26, 1942, in Sharon, a son of the late Merle E. and Katherine (Whittling) Levitt. He attended Sharon High School.

He proudly served his county in the US Navy.

Following his honorable discharge, Thomas worked as a tractor trailer driver. He was employed by Brookfield Dairy, Eazor Express and most recently drove more than 17 years for P.I.E. Trucking, in Florida, retiring when they closed.   He was a member of the Moose Lodge 1145, St. Petersburg, Florida.

Thomas enjoyed golfing and coached little league baseball for many years while living in Florida. Above all, he loved to spend time with his children and family.

Thomas was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon

He is survived by his wife, the former Diane G. Barretta, whom he married on June 19, 1965. Also surviving are two daughters; Anne Marie Corbett and her husband Donald, of Powhatan, VA, and Patricia Swain and her husband Jeffery, of Fredericksburg, VA; a son, Thomas M. Levitt II and his wife Kelli, of Woodbridge, VA; two brothers, Howard Levitt and his wife Donna, of Hampton, VA, and Harvey Levitt and his wife Patricia, of Sharon; and five grandchildren, Thomas M.  Levitt III, Justin Levitt, Corey Swain, Ethan Swain, and Robert Righter.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, William, Ralph and John Levitt; and three sisters, Patricia Porterfield, Constance Fraley, and Norene Grandy.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, at www.Alz.org .

Calling hours will be noon to 2 p.m. Thursday (09/03/2020) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.
