Thomas E. Kuntz, formerly of E. Meyer Ave, New Castle, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, in Jame-son Memorial Hospital. He was 85. Mr. Kuntz was born Sep-tember 28, 1929, in St. Mary's, PA, a son of the late Amandus H. and Genevieve (Wolf) Kuntz. He was raised in St. Mary's where he was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. Tom began a 34 year career with Monroe Systems in 1957 as a serviceman in Pittsburgh and moved to New Castle in 1968 where he was the service manager for Monroe before retiring in 1991. He was an active member of St. Mary's Church, Mary Mother of Hope Parish; a member of the Knights of Columbus, New Castle Council 512 and was a Fourth Degree member of the Villa Maria Assembly. Tom was a volunteer at New Castle Public Library and St. Francis Hospital for many years. He was a member of the Eintracht Singing Society and the Alliance of Transylvanian Saxons. He enjoyed bowling, reading, traveling and gardening. His wife, the former Barbara Weinreich, whom he married July 5, 1958, passed away August 14, 2008. Surviving are: a daughter, Mary B. Carlisle and her husband Don, Pikeville, TN; a son, Thomas J. Kuntz and his wife Lisa, Ennis, MT; two grandchildren, Nathan T. Kuntz and his wife Jamie, Knoxville, TN; and Michael T. Kuntz and his wife Lindsay and their daughter, Reagan, Miami, FL; and a sister, Lois Rose Eckert, Pittsburgh. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Society P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2015, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015, in St. Mary's Church. Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery.
