Obituary

Thomas Joseph Kelly, Jr., age 84, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016, in St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage, surrounded by all his girls and wife.

Tom was born October 13, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA, a son of Thomas and Anna Marie Tierney Kelly.  He married the love of his life, the former Ann Louise Fandozzi on October 17, 1953 and they enjoyed 63 wonderful years together.

He and his wife were founding members of Levittown, PA and St. Michael the Archangel Parish where they raised their 4 daughters. In 1992, Tom and Louise moved to Wexford, PA where they were founding members of St's. John and Paul Parish in Sewickley, PA, and where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Mount Olive's Council, # 3907, and its 4th Degree Assembly.

Ultimately he and his wife moved to Hermitage, PA in 2012 and resided at Saint John XXIII Home and enjoyed his final four years with his bride, Louise.  He could be seen pushing Louise around the home, waving, smiling and talking to everyone he met along the way.  Tom never met a stranger in his life.

Tom worked for 3M at its adhesive tape plant in Bristol, Pa. where he began as a laborer.  He later worked as a supervisor retired as an industrial engineer in 1989 after 39 years of service.  During his retirement in Wexford, Tom worked part time driving cars at The Butler Auto Auction and worked alongside Louise as a realtor, as she sold homes in the area.

Born the year "The Star Spangled Banner" became our national anthem, Tom proudly served with the Air National Guard of New Jersey and the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a sister Teresa; and a brother, Martin.  Beloved husband of Louise, who resides at St. John XXIII Home, Tom is also survived by his four "Kelly Girls,"  Janet (Tim) Magner,  State College, PA; Mary Jo (Gary) Lackey, Hermitage; Carolyn (John) Conversa, Elmhurst, IL; and Barbara Jean (Tom) Pistella, Libertyville, IL; and 11 grandchildren, Tom and Grace Magner;  Patrick, Dennis and Greg Lackey;  Maria, Julia and Domenic Conversa; and Matthew, Maggie, and John Pistella

His kindness was undiluted and appreciated by all at Saint John XXIII. A special thanks to John XXIII staff for all of their love, heartfelt warmth and compassion to our family.  There will never be another man like Tom.
