Thomas "Meats" Wallace Jr., 79, of New Castle, passed away on Wednesday July 29, 2015 in Jameson Hospital. Thomas was born in New Castle on July 26, 1936 to the late Thomas Wallace Sr. and Axie Payne Wallace. He was first employed by the former Johnson Bronze Co. and later worked in the construction business. Thomas was a member of the Elks Lawrence Lodge #18. He was married to the former Lillie Mercer who preceded him in death. Thomas was loved by his family and friends, especially the many children that he helped to raise and affectionately referred to him as Papa Meats. Thomas is survived by his sister in law, Margie Wallace of New Castle one Nephew and six nieces, all of New Castle. Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife are his four brothers; Willie, Sterling, Theodore and Herman (Bo) Wallace and one sister, Thelma Wallace. Visitation will be held from 11 to 12 noon on Tuesday (08-04-15) at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home, Inc. 111 W. Falls St., New Castle. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 12 Noon in the funeral home by the Rev. Norman H. Hunt, Pastor of Second Baptist Church. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery.
