Thomas Lambert Hartsky, 96, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on Tuesday evening, November 3, 2026, in UPMC Shenango Valley Hospital, Farrell.
Mr. Hartsky was born on June 22, 1930, in the family home on Emerson Ave in Farrell, a son of the late Ernest Joseph and Mary Josephine (David) Hartsky. He attended St. Ann’s Parochial Grade School, where he played the bass drum in the school band. He later graduated from Farrell High School in 1948, where he was a member of the High School Band and its Color Guard, participated in school plays, and competed on the wrestling team.
Tom was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Sharon and, as a child, was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, where he served as an altar boy and sang in the choir.
A proud veteran, Tom served in the U.S. Army Artillery during the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After serving from February of 1952 to February of 1954, he was honorably discharged with the following decorations: Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Korean Ambassador Peace Medal.
For 38 years, Tom was employed by Sawhill Tubular Division in Wheatland, PA, retiring in 1993.
Always active, he participated in several softball, bowling, and golf leagues throughout his life. Tom enjoyed spending time in his floral garden, especially tending to his roses, peonies, and rugosa shrubs. He loved feeding the birds in his backyard and seeing them flock to their respective birdhouses. Tom was also a talented woodworker and, along with his wife, Frances, made quality items that they sold at Chagrin Falls and some other of Ohio’s top craft shows, as well as at Disney World in Florida. He also loved all types of music – especially tunes with a good bass sound!
Tom enjoyed the challenge of picture puzzles, crossword puzzles, or a game of solitaire on his iPad. He looked forward to watching, attending, and supporting his children and grandchildren at their many sporting events, musicals, plays, concerts, and graduations. Tom also loved playing Euchre with the family during holiday meals and gatherings.
Tom had a passion for traveling the East Coast, with his favorite destination being Ogunquit, Maine. Tom, Frances, and the family made a trip to Ogunquit this June, and enjoyed a wonderful time together - creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
He married his beloved wife, Frances (Novak) Hartsky, on August 10, 1957, at St. Anthony’s Church in Sharon, and just recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Frances survives at home.
Tom is also survived by his daughter, Barb Dzuricsko (Bill), and their children, Will “Billy” Dzuricsko and Brianna Dzuricsko (Zach); his son, Thomas Hartsky “Tomas Hradcky” (Kelly Mahan Jaramillo); and his daughter, Jolene Williams (Ross), and their children, Sean Williams (Kate), Connor Williams, and Cameron Williams.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest William Hartsky; and his sister, Mary Louise Novak.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of UPMC Shenango Valley Hospital in Farrell for their comfort, compassion, and kindness.
In keeping with his wishes, a private service will be held amongst family at a later date.
