Thomas Gricus, 73, of Mercer, PA passed away with his wife and daughter by his side Friday afternoon, March 29, 2024, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle.

Mr. Gricus was born November 1, 1950, in McKeesport, PA, a son of the late Frank and Dolores (Ponsock) Gricus, and graduated from West Mifflin North High School in 1968. He obtained an associate degree in graphic arts from Monroe Community College, Rochester, NY, and later graduated from Slippery Rock University, earning a bachelor's in science education.

While at Slippery Rock, Tom met his wife, the former Pamela M. Kahl. They married on February 20, 1971, and recently celebrated 53 years of marriage.

In 2020, Tom retired from Victor Printing, Sharon, where had worked as a graphic designer and photographer for more than 30 years. He previously worked in a similar capacity for a printing and advertising company while living in Rochester, NY.

Tom loved playing golf, growing vegetables in his garden, and hunting for interesting rocks during his travels. His penchant for photography produced a host of pictorial remembrances of the family's trips abroad. Tom also enjoyed scuba diving in the Caribbean and fishing in the local streams. An avid traveler, he loved to get off the beaten path in foreign countries leading to eventful trips.

In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by a daughter, Gretchen Witkowski and her husband, Jeremiah; and a grandson, Nathaniel, all of Sharon; a brother, Frank Gricus, Johnson City, TN; and three sisters, Christine Ryland, Richmond, VA, Phyllis Loeb, Pittsburgh, PA, and Tamara Kofke, Buffalo, NY.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

All are invited to join in a celebration of Tom's life that will be held at noon on April 13, 2024, in Unity Presbyterian Church, 1857 Mercer-West Middlesex Road, Mercer, with Rev. Marsha Parrish, presiding. All in attendance are encouraged to join in a luncheon that will be held immediately following in the church.
